Wedding of David Beckham and Victoria Adams: The wedding of David Beckham and Victoria Adams took place on July 4, 1999, in a crumbling temple also called ‘Queen Victoria's folly’ within the grounds of the Luttrell town Castle outside Dublin. The folly was decorated for the occasion with silver birch and rose petals. There were regal thrones at the reception, imperial purple carpets and rows of liveried attendants. The wedding of David Beckham and Victoria Adams was amidst pomp and splendor. The bride wore a golden crown costing £100,000. It had diamonds embedded and enhanced the designer look of her tight fitting, corseted ivory wedding dress designed by Vera Wang. The dress had a 20ft trail and behind her were 125 security guards. The Rt. Rev Paul Colton, the Bishop of Cork, conducted the service. The actual ceremony took place in front of only 29 close friends and family members.

The moment Victoria, popularly called Posh Spice, was pronounced Mrs. Beckham, a heraldic flag with the letters 'V.B.D' was raised above the 15th century castle. ‘V’ stands for Victoria, ‘B’ for Brooklyn, their son and ‘D’ for David. The couple seemed to have their mind set on ‘royalty and doves’ as the theme of their wedding. When the rings were exchanged, a single white dove was released and as they emerged as man and wife, flanked on all sides by attendants in blue knickerbockers and purple sashes, 100 doves were released.

The wedding party then moved to the castle to change for the 8.30pm reception. It was a comparatively small, 236 guest party, to be held in a marquee, within the extensive 568-acres. The guests had all been requested to dress in either black or white. The evening concluded with a spectacular firework display at 8pm and hundreds of red balloons were released into the night sky.

Wedding Pictures: The glossy celebrity OK! Magazine had paid £1million for the exclusive photography rights of the wedding pictures. The team spent 14 months planning and ironing out every detail. However, in spite of all the stringent security measures and secrecy, local and international paparazzi arrived at the wedding too. This was expected at the high profile event. There was an aerial dogfight between the official photography party helicopter and the uninvited guests. The day after the wedding, The Sun published some of the surreptitiously taken wedding pictures. Unlike the journalists who made a frontal attack, The Sun had sent a photographer disguised as an attendant and obtained some very clear pictures. The Mirror also published a picture of the event that it claimed had ‘landed unofficially’. The Mirror scoop was however less successful and revealing than that of the Sun.
