The annual turnover of this industry reached the Rs.2.3 billion mark, via the ticket sales of 700 million in 2005. The popular movies are screened extensively during summer and the Indian festivals of Dushera and Sankranthi. The total business for the Sankranthi season in 2004 was approximately Rs.1.5 billion or 150 crores. There are three TV channels dedicated exclusively to air programs related to the films. The leading female stars of Telugu movies Genelia and Shriya get approximately Rs.30-40 lakhs, per film. This money largely depends on the number of days they are required to shoot.
