Craigslist detroit

What is Craigslist Detroit, Michigan?Craigslist Detroit, Michigan is actually but one of a centralized network of online urban communities offering a free service that is essential throughout our global world: classifieds. For those who would scoff at this, think again. Classifieds form an important information service for anyone who is looking for anything at all, and a free classifieds service encourages people to post all the more – after all, nothing is lost seeing as it's free. It's no surprise then that Craigslist Detroit, Michigan, indeed, Craigslist in general, has been such a huge success. As a whole, Craigslist clocks up an astounding 5 million hits per month, and features over 500,000 new job listings each month and over 10 million new classified adds each month. Craiglist Detroit, Michigan is the definitive job board for its area. Although Craigslist itself started in Sans Franscisco, and catered mostly to that area, today it is featured in over 30 cities worldwide, including Detroit.
Listings for Everything, Including Cars on Craigslist DetroitTaking full advantage of the openness of the Internet, Craigslist Detroit and its other branches allow its users to post any ads they feel like. Thus the content on Craigslist Detroit can range from cars to books, to jobs, and even toys. It gives new meaning to the term "something for everybody", for indeed, with such a variety, it would be hard not to find what you were looking for. Craigslist does not, and insists that it cannot, police its site. Warnings are abound for content that may be sexual or offending, however the ads posted are solely at the discretion of the poster, Craigslist is merely a medium for the ad to find voice. This has caused various controversies over the years, as will be discussed briefly later on.
The Craigslist Detroit Founder BlogThe founder of Craigslist Detroit, Craig Newmark, has his own blog in which he comments on various events and such. Much like any other blog, this one however offers insight into the mind of the person behind this wildly successful business. Although Newmark's announcement on his blog in 2004 that e-bay had purchased 25% of Craigslist Detroit and Craigslist did cause some alarm, it seems that not much has changed as far as Craigslist is concerned. Indeed, in 2005, Craigslist apparently won the right to broadcast over 2 million classified ads into deep space, with Newmark remarking that "We believe there could be an infinite market opportunity in space". Whether or not this is true, the Craigslist Detroit Founder blog certainly is something worth a look or two.
The Erotic Services Scandals on Craigslist Detroit and OthersAs mentioned previously, Craiglist Detroit has had its fair share of scandals. Most of which are to do with erotic services being advertised on Craigslist Detroit. Craigslist itself however does not police these, but cooperates with authorities whenever investigations into cases of prostitution occuring over Craigslist do come up. Lately, the most recent controversy is Craiglist being sued over hosting discriminatory adverts which contain clauses like "only Muslims" or "only godly clean Christians" or "no minorities" and so on. The CEO, Jim Buckmaster, refuses to bow down to pressure and claims that their current system whereby while Craigslist does not police ads, users may 'flag' them as being inappropriate, and thus they will be investigated and taken down, is more efficient than any other. The lawsuit is stil pending.
